Schloss Richmond is a Baroque pleasure house with a square floor plan and a corner entrance, featuring ceremonial halls arranged diagonally through the center. Private rooms are positioned on either side, following the typical layout of estates from this period.
Construction took place from 1769 to 1774, commissioned by Princess Augusta, who married the Duke of Brunswick. The project reflected the growing wealth and taste of the ducal court during that era.
The painted rooms reflect how the ducal court spent its time entertaining and celebrating in the 1700s. Walking through the halls gives you a sense of the refined life people led here.
