Schloss Roßthal

Schloss Roßthal is a rectangular stone building with a high tent roof situated within a landscaped park southeast of Dresden. The structure combines Renaissance details with upper stories added during the 1800s and now operates as an agricultural school.

The estate originated in 1628 as a fief granted by the Evangelical Dompropst of Meißen, with the present building constructed in 1657 for Alexander von Krahe. The 1800s brought structural changes that shaped the castle's current form.

The castle displays German Renaissance design elements that give the architecture a timeless appearance. Visitors can explore the baroque grille gate and the hermitage within the park, which reveal the property's design history.

The castle sits roughly 15 kilometers southeast of Dresden's city center and is accessible by car. Since the building operates as a school, visitors should confirm visiting times in advance before planning a trip.

During mid-1800s renovations, two upper floors were added following Renaissance style principles. This transformation significantly changed the castle's appearance and created the facade seen today.
