Weißeritztalbrücke, Road bridge in Dresden, Germany
The Weißeritztalbrücke is a road bridge in Dresden that connects two sections of the A17 motorway across the Weißeritz Valley. The structure consists of two separate bridges featuring distinctive turquoise concrete beams supported by four concrete pillars.
Construction of the bridge began in spring 2000 and was completed in 2002 as a solution for crossing the valley. The official opening took place in 2004, marking a new chapter in the development of the motorway connection through Dresden.
The bridge design by architect Egon Jux incorporates turquoise-colored concrete beams and four reinforced concrete pillars that rise 28 meters above the valley floor.
Access to the bridge is for vehicles traveling on the A17 heading toward the valley. Visitors can view the structure from the valley floor or from nearby vantage points that offer clear views.
The bridge simultaneously crosses the Weißeritz River, Tharandter Street, and the Dresden-Werdau railway line in a single structure. This multi-layered function makes it a technically noteworthy solution for urban infrastructure.
