Stadtkirche Meiningen

Stadtkirche Meiningen is a church in the heart of town with layers of Gothic and Gothic Revival design from different periods. Its interior displays tall pointed arches and carefully carved stone details that reflect the building techniques of the eras when it was expanded and rebuilt.

The building's origins trace back to the 11th century, with major Gothic expansions happening in the mid 1400s. Later, a comprehensive Gothic Revival renovation in the late 1800s reshaped its current form and strengthened its role in the town.

The church serves as the spiritual center of Meiningen and remains part of the town's identity. Its location near the Court Theatre reflects how religious and artistic life have been intertwined in this small German town for centuries.
