Stadthalle Braunschweig, multi-purpose event venue and conference centre in Brunswick, Germany
Stadthalle Braunschweig is a large multi-purpose hall in Brunswick located on Leonhardplatz. The building contains three main rooms - a large hall, a smaller hall, and a conference room - that can be used together or separately and accommodate nearly 3,000 people in total.
The building opened in 1965 following designs by architects Heido Stumpf and Peter Voigtländer and replaced an older town hall that opened in 1931 and was demolished in 1999. Since its opening, this modern structure with concrete frame and copper roof has hosted tens of thousands of events and serves as the cultural center of the city.
The location on Leonhardplatz near the main train station offers good connections to public transportation and sufficient parking nearby. The hall is currently closed for renovations that are expected to be completed in 2028.
The original town hall opened in 1931 on Schützenplatz after a storm during construction damaged the structure and delayed its opening. Today's building with its triangular structural elements (about 5.5 meters per side) was deliberately placed near the new main train station to provide better accessibility.
