Obelisk

The Obelisk at Löwenwall is a granite memorial that rises from a broad rectangular base with symmetrical design elements throughout its form. The structure reaches approximately 22 meters in height, standing noticeably above the surrounding parkland.

The monument was constructed after designs by Peter Joseph Krahe and dedicated in 1823 as a tribute to military sacrifice. Its creation occurred during a period when Germany was reshaping its commemorative traditions.
