Karmelitenkloster St. Josef, Baroque monastery in Old Town, Germany

The St. Josef Carmelite Monastery features a central portal with ionic columns and a high altar decorated with an oil painting of Saint Joseph.

Founded in 1641, the monastery underwent a period of secularization from 1812 to 1836, during which the church served as a customs house.

The monastery maintains the traditions of the Discalced Carmelites, focusing on spiritual growth through prayer services, confessions, and religious ceremonies.

The monastery church provides regular divine services, confessions, and spiritual guidance to visitors throughout the week.

Two monastery brothers exclusively hold the secret recipe for Regensburger Karmelitengeist, a medicinal spirit produced since 1721.
