Sorø Municipality, Administrative municipality in Zealand, Denmark
The municipality covers 311 square kilometers of land on Zealand island, including ten urban areas with Sorø serving as the administrative center.
The municipality underwent significant restructuring in 2007 through the Municipal Reform, which merged the previous Dianalund and Stenlille municipalities into one entity.
The municipality headquarters operate from Sorø, a town featuring multiple museums, an art gallery, and the historical Sorø Academy established in 1586.
The municipal council consists of 25 elected members who manage public services, infrastructure development, and social programs for over 30,000 residents.
The territory contains numerous lakes, including the main Sorø Lake, which influenced the etymology of the region's name, meaning 'the damp lake'.
