Birkegårdens Haver

Birkegårdens Haver is a garden complex with five distinct themed sections: Danish-English, Japanese, Prairie, Monastery, and Permaculture. Each section is distributed across landscaped grounds featuring different plant varieties and design approaches.

The property was originally a working farm with livestock until 1996, when it transitioned into public gardens. This change marked the shift from agricultural use to a horticultural destination.

The site functions as a place where visitors find spaces designed for reflection and meditation, particularly in the Japanese sections. These areas encourage people to pause and experience a different rhythm of being outdoors.

The site offers wheelchair borrowing services, accessible pathways, and picnic areas with grills throughout the grounds. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking the varied terrain, and sunscreen should be brought for longer visits since many sections are exposed.

During winter months, particularly from November through December, the grounds transform with seasonal holiday decorations and special winter activities. This temporary transformation creates a different experience for visitors seeking festive outdoor spaces during colder weather.
