City Circle Line, Copenhagen Metro line
The City Circle Line is an automated rapid transit railway in Copenhagen that connects 17 stations in a loop around the city center. The modern, driverless trains run several times each hour and follow a simple circular route through different neighborhoods.
The line opened in 2019 after many years of planning. Large tunnel boring machines excavated the route deep beneath the city to create this important connection between neighborhoods and the main transit network.
The line carries the Danish name 'Cityringen' and connects neighborhoods like Nørrebro, Østerbro, and Vesterbro. It makes it easy for people to move between these different areas and experience the character of each one.
Trains run every few minutes during the day and at longer intervals at night, and you can buy tickets at stations or online before your journey. The stations are accessible with elevators and level boarding, making it easy for all travelers to get on and off comfortably.
The trains on this line are completely driverless and controlled by computers and sensors, allowing them to run around the clock. This technology makes the line one of Copenhagen's most modern transit infrastructure systems.
