Bispebjerg Bakke, Residential complex in Bispebjerg district, Copenhagen, Denmark
Bispebjerg Bakke is a residential complex in Copenhagen's Bispebjerg district composed of eleven connected houses with red and yellow brick walls and curved lines. The buildings range from three to eight stories and follow the natural slope of the land.
Construction began in August 2004 under the direction of Haandværkerforeningen i Kjøbenhavn and was completed in 2006, comprising 135 apartments. The project emerged as an innovative residential development with an artistic approach for the district.
The complex bears names of Danish artists and musicians, reflecting the artistic vision embedded in the site. Visitors can notice how the window arrangements and curved forms of the buildings evoke musical patterns.
The site is easily accessible on foot with multiple entrances that visitors can freely view. The curved pathways and stairs connect different levels, making it straightforward to explore the entire complex.
Danish sculptor Bjørn Nørgaard designed the complex using clay models and integrated musical elements through window and gateway arrangements. The copper roofs and wooden frames create a structure that resembles a musical score.
