Forstbotanisk Have
Forstbotanisk Have is a large garden located in Charlottenlund, managed by the Danish Nature Agency. It features a varied collection of trees, shrubs, and plants from different parts of the world arranged along winding paths through the woodland setting.
This garden was founded in 1838 by King Frederik VI as a place to study and display plant diversity. It is now the oldest existing forestry botanic garden in Denmark and has served researchers and students for generations.
The name reflects its purpose as a forest botanic garden displaying plants from various climates and regions. You can observe how different tree species grow together and learn about the connections between them as you walk.
The garden is open day and night, allowing you to visit whenever you wish. Benches are scattered throughout for resting, informational signs explain the plants, and a map of the grounds helps with orientation.
The garden features specially built nesting boxes placed high in trees, providing birds with safe spaces to raise their young. These boxes help keep the place alive with bird song, adding an unexpected soundscape to your walk.
