El Tarf Province, Province with Mediterranean coast in northeastern Algeria
El Tarf Province is an administrative region in northeastern Algeria that stretches from Mediterranean coastline to inland areas. The territory includes seven districts and contains both coastal zones and agricultural land, with El Taref serving as the capital.
The province was established in 1984 through administrative reorganization when portions of Annaba and Guelma provinces were combined. This division allowed for separate governance of the coastal and inland areas of the region.
The local population maintains traditional fishing methods along the Mediterranean coast while integrating agricultural practices that sustain the regional economy.
The province can be visited throughout the year, though conditions vary by season. Coastal roads remain accessible year-round, while beach activities and water-based pursuits are most pleasant during warmer months.
A power station construction project initiated in 2008 by General Electric and Iberdrola aims to increase Algeria's national energy capacity by eighteen percent.
