Pirogovi park, Public park in Kesklinn district, Tartu, Estonia.
Pirogovi Park is a green space in central Tartu that stretches along the slopes of Toomemägi hill. The park sits between Ülikooli Street and Lossi Street, with pathways running through it that connect the area to surrounding streets.
The park was created after World War II on a site that had been covered with ruins. A cinema and cafe once occupied this location before they were destroyed.
The park is named after Russian physician Nikolai Pirogov and serves as a popular gathering place for university students in the city center. People use the open space throughout the day for resting on benches and passing through.
The park is easily accessible on foot and has multiple entrances from the surrounding streets. It is an open space with no admission fee, offering benches for sitting and paths for walking.
The park is the only location in Tartu where beer and light alcoholic drinks can legally be consumed outdoors under certain conditions. This allowance applies from March through October on the grass area between the Toome Hill path and University Street.
