House of the Blackheads, Renaissance guildhouse in Vanalinn, Estonia
The House of the Blackheads features a white hall with Renaissance elements and Gothic architectural details throughout its three connected buildings.
The Brotherhood of Black Heads acquired this building in 1517, transforming it with significant renovations by architect Arent Passer in 1597.
The painted doors from the 1640s display Saint Maurice, the patron saint of the merchant brotherhood, carved in wood and stone.
The building opens Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 17:00 between January and December, offering access with the Tallinn Card.
Members of the Brotherhood established the tradition of placing decorated spruce trees in the market square during the 15th century.
