Benissa, Municipality at Costa Blanca, Spain
Benisa is a municipality in Alicante province along the Mediterranean coast with roughly 4 kilometers of waterfront. The town sits 275 meters above sea level and features rocky cliffs interrupted by small bays.
The name comes from the Arabic tribal group Beni-Hisa, reflecting the long Islamic presence in the area. The Muslim population departed in 1609, marking the end of that chapter in local history.
The Palace of Torres-Orduña functions as a cultural center and library, offering educational programs and exhibitions throughout the year for residents and visitors.
The municipality connects to main routes through the A-7 highway and N332 road. Alicante airport is roughly 70 kilometers to the southwest, offering good access for arrivals.
A Franciscan seminary in the area has trained religious scholars for generations. Many of its graduates went on to contribute to theological education across Spain.
