The multi-purpose stadium includes a main grandstand for 7,616 spectators and a perimeter ring accommodating 3,200 additional visitors for athletic competitions.
The construction started in December 2003, with partial operations beginning in 2005, and the complete facility officially opened on June 27, 2009.
The stadium hosted the Spanish national rugby team's victory against Uruguay in 2016, marking its first international rugby match with 10,000 spectators.
The sports complex connects to central Málaga via MA-22 and provides direct access to the Costa del Sol through A-7 highway and Málaga Ring Road.
The stadium served as the primary venue for the Spain Sevens tournament during the World Rugby Sevens Series in 2022.
