Ciudad de Málaga Stadium, Athletic stadium in Carretera de Cádiz district, Spain.
Ciudad de Málaga Stadium is a track and field and rugby venue in the Carretera de Cádiz district, in the southern part of Málaga. It has a main grandstand along one side of the field and additional seating around the perimeter, with space for around 10,000 spectators.
Work on the stadium started in 2003, with the venue opening progressively from 2005 and reaching full completion in 2009. From that point it became one of the main rugby venues in southern Spain and has hosted major competitions on a regular basis.
The stadium is closely tied to rugby in the city and draws fans from across the region. On match days, the main grandstand fills with supporters whose energy makes the experience very different from a standard sports visit.
The stadium sits in the southern part of the city and is easy to reach by car using the MA-22 or the A-7 road. Parking is available nearby but can fill up on event days, so arriving a little early helps.
In 2022 this venue hosted the Spain Sevens, which is part of the official World Rugby Sevens Series and one of the top seven-a-side tournaments on the global calendar. That put it on the map as one of the few places in Spain to stage a world-level rugby event.
