The beach marks where the Guadalhorce River meets the Mediterranean Sea, a natural point that has shaped human activity here for centuries. This river mouth created conditions that drew communities to the area long ago.

The beach lies within the Guadalhorce Natural Area, at the river mouth on the western edge of Málaga. It is not a dog beach, since no sign authorises dogs, yet visitors bring them to the waterline; the animals disturb the birds and leave droppings on the sand. The beach is little frequented and has almost no services.

The beach is reachable by the CN-340 road or regular buses from Malaga with parking options nearby. Weather and sea conditions shift throughout the year so it is worth checking before planning a visit.

The beach lies at the mouth of the Guadalhorce River, beside the Guadalhorce Nature Area. Despite a common belief, it is not a dog beach: no sign authorises dogs, yet people still bring them to the waterline, where they disturb wildlife and foul the sand.
