Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Palma, Baroque church in Plaza Alta, Algeciras, Spain
The Church of Our Lady of the Palm contains five naves with Ionic columns supporting the central nave through a series of arches.
Construction of the church started in 1723 to replace the insufficient Chapel of Our Lady of Europe, with final completion of the bell tower in 1829.
The church received recognition as a cultural heritage site in 1992, emphasizing its architectural and religious importance to the Algeciras community.
The parish maintains regular religious services and provides administrative assistance for sacramental records dating back to the 1960s.
The bell tower incorporates stones from medieval city walls of Algeciras and reaches a height of 46 meters above the plaza.
