Barcelonès Nord

Barcelonès Nord is a region of five municipalities north of Barcelona stretching along the Mediterranean coast. The territory is bounded by the Besós River on the southeast side and the Marina mountain ranges to the northwest.

The region experienced rapid population growth starting in the 1950s, with the number of inhabitants nearly tripling over three decades. This boom resulted from industrial expansion and economic development that drew workers to the area.
