Basilica of St. John of Avila

The Basilica of St. John of Avila is a Jesuit church in Montilla housing remarkable artistic treasures. Its interior displays a monumental main altar, paintings by respected masters, and the tomb of the House of Aguilar.

The original church was founded in 1568 with backing from the Marquis of Priego. A major reconstruction took place in 1726, and the building received the status of a minor basilica in 2012.
