Iglesia de San Bartolomé, Baroque church building in central Murcia, Spain.
The San Bartolomé Church features a Latin cross layout with a single nave covered by a barrel vault and two uneven transepts with semicircular apses.
Construction of the current church started on August 24, 1767, with interruptions until completion between 1879 and 1883 under architect Justo Millán's direction.
Inside the church, visitors can find sculptures from the Murcian Baroque period, including the Virgin of Sorrows created by Francisco Salzillo in 1740.
The church opens Tuesday through Saturday from 18:45 to 20:30 in spring and summer, 17:45 to 19:30 in fall and winter, and Sundays from 8:00 to 13:00.
The church connects directly to a palace-house of local marquises, who made substantial contributions to complete the construction.
