Antiguo Convento de los Remedios

The Antiguo Convento de los Remedios is a former monastery in the Los Remedios district that now houses a carriage museum. The complex features a church with a Latin cross layout and three naves, with a semi-spherical vault rising over the central crossing.

The complex was founded in 1573 by the Discalced Carmelites and moved to its current location in 1632 to escape river flooding. This relocation marked an important adaptation to the city's geographic challenges.

The name refers to the saints to whom it was dedicated, reflecting the spiritual role it held for the city over centuries. Visitors can still sense the religious purpose in the spaces that once housed the monastic community.

The building sits near the Guadalquivir River and is easily reached on foot from the Los Remedios district center. Visitors should note that opening hours vary and access may change depending on events or special activities.

The front facade features distinctive pilasters that extend to the roofline, creating a strong vertical emphasis on the building's exterior. These architectural details make a striking impression as you approach the structure from the plaza.
