Casa de les Altures

Casa de les Altures is a historicist building featuring Neo-Mudéjar architecture with a covered entrance gallery and Arabic architectural details on its upper level. The structure sits beside Parc de les Aigües along Ronda Guinardó and displays craftsmanship typical of its construction period.

The building was constructed in 1890 by master builder Enric Figueras for Nicolau Recúlez Chevalier, the engineer director of Barcelona's water supply company. Its creation was linked to the city's infrastructure and development efforts in the late 1800s.

The building functions as the administrative center for the district, housing government offices and a conference room in its basement. This public role shapes how residents and visitors interact with the space daily.

The building is located next to Parc de les Aigües at Ronda Guinardó 49-51 and welcomes visitors during regular office hours. Its proximity to the park makes it easy to include a visit while exploring the neighborhood.

The name Casa de les Altures comes from the water pumping motors that lifted water to nearby storage tanks. This hidden history connects the building to Barcelona's early efforts to distribute water across the expanding city.
