The church features a single nave divided into four sections supported by strong buttresses and concludes with a heptagonal apse at the eastern end.
Construction of Santa Maria dels Turers began in 1270 and finished in 1333, replacing an earlier Romanesque temple from the 10th century.
The church represents one of the earliest examples of Catalan Gothic architecture and received designation as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest.
The church stands on elevated ground in Banyoles, with coordinates at 42.1194 latitude and 2.76675 longitude for easy navigation.
The Gothic portal, originally located on the southern wall, was moved to the apse area in 1864 during structural modifications.
