Beach of Luanco

The Beach of Luanco is a 280-meter curved shore along the Cantabrian coast with fine sand and natural rock formations at each end. The water shelves gently, creating a safe bathing area that looks toward the open sea.

The beach underwent major restoration work in 1995 to prevent sand erosion during high tides and storm waves. These efforts made the shore more stable and suitable for regular recreational use.

The Church of Santa María overlooks the beach, linking the local fishing heritage with religious life in the community. From this vantage point, visitors can see how deeply the sea shapes daily activities here.

The beach has showers, restrooms, and accessible facilities including amphibious wheelchairs for visitors with mobility needs. Lifeguards patrol the water from June through September to ensure safe swimming conditions.

The beach sits directly adjacent to a working fishing village where traditional boats rest on the shore. Visitors can observe daily fishing activities and experience the rhythms of maritime life without leaving the waterfront.
