Villa romana la Dehesa

Villa romana la Dehesa is an ancient Roman settlement in Las Cuevas de Soria, consisting of multiple buildings arranged around a central courtyard with columned galleries. The excavated structures spread across a large area and display the layout of a typical Roman country estate with distinct functional zones.

Excavation of this Roman residence began in the 1930s, revealing remains dating to the 3rd century. The discoveries have provided important insights into the architectural style and way of life on country estates throughout this period.

The interpretation center displays artifacts found here and explains how people lived and worked on this large estate during Roman times. Through these objects, visitors can imagine the daily routines that unfolded within these walls.

The site opens from March through December and is accessible via elevated walkways that provide safe views of the excavations. When planning a visit, travelers should note that guided tours are available during summer months, and weather conditions may affect how long the tour is comfortable.

Geometric mosaics visible beneath the walkways showcase the artistic skill of the ancient residents and have remained in fine condition. These colorful floor decorations give a sense of the household's wealth and sophistication.
