Anja's Park

The seven-hectare arboretum contains 28 ponds and features numerous tree species, including Pinus peuce, Betula pubescens, and Quercus robur across its hilly terrain.

Artist Anja Laaksonen established the arboretum in 1968 by planting the first tree at Honkalahti, gradually expanding it from a small yard into an extensive garden.

Throughout the arboretum, Anja Laaksonen incorporated natural materials such as rocks, tree trunks, and rootstocks to create artistic installations among the plant collections.

The arboretum has remained closed to public access since 2020, following the death of its founder Anja Laaksonen who maintained the grounds for over five decades.

The grounds house various animals including peacocks, pheasants, turkeys, and rabbits, while spanning between Ala-Säynätjärvi and Iso-Palvanen lakes.
