Stable Yards, Tampere

The Stable Yards is a historic stable complex in Tampere featuring distinctive Russian-style buildings from the late 19th century. The colorful wooden structures with decorative carvings now house shops, cafes, and studios that occupy the individual cottages.

The complex was built between 1839 and 1890 by factory owner Wilhelm von Nottbeck to house working horses and their handlers. This period shaped the industrial development of the quarter, which was driven by cotton manufacturing.

The complex houses craft shops selling handmade Finnish goods and serves as a gathering place for seasonal events that reflect neighborhood life. Visitors can discover genuine local work created in the studios and ateliers.
