Hôtel d'Almeyras, Private mansion in Marais district, Paris, France
The Hôtel d'Almeyras is a private mansion in the Marais district located on Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, characterized by alternating brick and stone elements across its symmetrical facade. The building retains its original structure and displays the architectural quality typical of 17th-century Parisian noble residences.
The mansion was built in 1611 for Pierre d'Alméras, a royal secretary, marking an important moment in the Marais district's development. A garden pavilion was added in the 1620s, and a wrought iron gate was later installed at the entrance, showing how the property was modified over time.
The facade displays the typical architectural language of 17th-century Parisian nobility with its symmetrical layout and alternating use of stone and brick. Walking past, you can observe how this design choice reflects the period's idea of order and prestige, common to many mansions in the Marais district.
The mansion is privately owned today and can only be viewed from the street. Since it was classified as a historic monument in 1978, you can observe its architectural details from the public way without interruption.
The entrance is marked by a wrought iron gate added in 1723, designed in the style of that era. This detail shows how successive owners enriched the mansion with new elements over the centuries while preserving its core structure.
