Maxime Lalanne is a stone bust in the Jardin Public in Bordeaux, France, honoring the local artist of the same name. It sits on a red marble base from the Languedoc region and was designed by the sculptor Pierre Granet.
Lalanne was born in Bordeaux in 1827, left his law studies to pursue art, and moved to Paris where he became known as an etcher. He received the Legion of Honor in 1875 and died in 1886, after which his ashes were returned to Bordeaux.
The bust stands in the Jardin Public, one of the most visited parks in Bordeaux, where locals walk and spend time outdoors daily. Passersby can read the inscription and discover the story of an artist who shaped etching in 19th-century France.
