Pune Airport is an international airport in Lohagaon, Maharashtra. The single terminal building handles both domestic and international passenger flights throughout the day.
The facility opened in 1911 as a military base and expanded into RAF Pune in 1939. Control transferred to India in 1947 following independence.
The Maharashtra State Government renamed the facility to Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Airport, connecting the transportation hub with regional heritage.
The airport sits around 10 kilometers (6 miles) northeast of central Pune. A taxi or transport service typically takes about 30 minutes to reach downtown.
The facility shares its runway with the Indian Air Force on the same site. The single strip measures 2,540 meters (8,333 feet) at an elevation of 592 meters (1,942 feet) above sea level.
