The 1.5-kilometer-long Promenade Beach features a paved walkway lined with palm trees and colonial buildings facing the sea waters.
The French colonial administration established this coastal area in the 17th century as a trading port, constructing numerous governmental buildings along the shore.
Local families gather at sunrise and sunset to participate in traditional activities such as yoga sessions and religious ceremonies near the water.
The beach area includes multiple food vendors, restroom facilities, dedicated parking spaces, and security personnel who patrol the area from 5 AM to 10 PM.
The beach promenade contains a 4-meter-tall statue of Mahatma Gandhi surrounded by eight granite pillars, which stands as a central meeting point.
