Daryan Dam, Hydroelectric power station in Paveh County, Iran
Daryan Dam is a hydroelectric embankment across the Sirvan River in Paveh County, designed to store water for power generation and regional irrigation. The structure rises from the valley floor with a concrete core and spans roughly 368 meters from bank to bank.
Construction began in 2009, with the diversion tunnel completed by mid-2011. The reservoir filled starting in 2015 after the embankment reached its designed height.
Archaeological excavations conducted before the reservoir flooding revealed multiple sites of historical value in the dam's surrounding area.
Access to the dam is restricted as it is an active infrastructure facility with security considerations. Visitors should check local guidelines before approaching, as some areas remain off-limits for safety reasons.
The original design height was reduced by 50 meters during construction to protect nearby villages from flooding risk. This change also safeguarded a historic shrine located in the area from submersion.
