Museo Nazionale Storico degli Alpini

The National Historical Museum of the Alpine Troops sits on Doss Trento hill and displays military equipment, photographs, documents, and multimedia installations about Italian mountain forces. The Alpine Corps was founded in 1872 as a specialized mountain unit, and this museum opened in 1958 to preserve their legacy. The institution has grown over time and now documents the major moments and developments of this military tradition.

The Medal of Honor Room displays military decorations and personal items that belonged to Alpine soldiers who served with distinction. You can walk through and read about individual soldiers' stories and their contributions to Italian history.

The museum is located on a hilltop, so it is best reached on foot or by car, and the climb can be tiring. Plan enough time to explore the exhibition at a relaxed pace and adjust to the elevation.

During the museum's expansion work, archaeological finds from the Lombard period were discovered and are now displayed alongside the military collection. These objects offer a surprising glimpse into the earlier history of the hilltop location.
