Gallerie Piedicastello, Exhibition galleries in Piedicastello district, Trento, Italy.
Gallerie Piedicastello consists of two converted road tunnels, each about 300 meters long, that serve as exhibition spaces. One tunnel is painted black and the other white, each offering distinct settings for artistic and cultural presentations.
The tunnels originally served traffic until 2007, when they were closed and later completely rebuilt. They opened as gallery spaces in 2008, transforming former infrastructure into a cultural venue.
The Black Gallery shows multimedia installations and photographs that tell stories about Trentino's regional past through large displays. You experience narratives about people and places that shaped the area.
The spaces are easy to reach and access varies depending on the exhibition, so visiting across different days can be worthwhile. Information is available on site to help understand the presentations.
The venue emerged from an unusual project that transformed abandoned infrastructure into a living art space. This new purpose showed how cities can find creative reuse for old structures.
