Monte Pecoraro, Mountain peak in Mongiana, Italy

Monte Pecoraro reaches 1,423 meters in elevation and stands as the highest summit within the Regional Natural Park of Serre in southern Calabria.

The mountain location previously served as a customs control point, as evidenced by the remains of an abandoned customs house at its slopes.

The surrounding Serre mountain range derives its name from the parallel ridges that include Monte Pecoraro, resembling the teeth of a saw.

Multiple hiking trails lead to the mountain summit, with weather conditions requiring proper preparation due to rapid changes at higher elevations.

The mountain slopes contain rare silver fir trees, registered in the national seed woods database for their exceptional genetic characteristics.
