Lake Endine

Lake Endine is a natural water body in Val Cavallina surrounded by reed-covered banks that alternate with small sandy stretches. Mountain streams flow into the lake, giving the water its characteristic dark green tone.

The lake formed during the last ice age and has been part of this valley's geography ever since. In the 19th century, thick winter ice allowed residents to walk across the narrowest point as a shortcut between villages.

The surrounding villages developed their identity through fishing and farming activities tied to the water for centuries. Local communities still gather along the shores, and the lake remains central to how people experience this valley.

Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, and kayaking are all permitted here, while motorized boats are not allowed to keep the water clean. The protected waters offer consistent conditions for these activities throughout most of the year.

Despite its modest size, the water draws from multiple mountain springs, creating an isolated ecosystem quite different from larger lakes in the region. This constant fresh water input keeps the water remarkably clear and supports particular plants and animals.
