Punta Tersiva, Mountain summit in Aosta Valley, Italy
Punta Tersiva is a pyramid-shaped mountain peak in the Graian Alps where three valleys meet and converge. The summit features steep slopes and glaciated terrain that defines the high alpine landscape.
The first recorded ascent took place in 1842 when climbers began exploring the peak. A mountain hut was established later to provide shelter and support for mountaineers attempting the summit.
The mountain holds significance in the Gran Paradiso Massif, ranking as the 44th highest peak among 438 summits and the 5th most prominent in the region.
The ascent begins from the lower valleys and follows marked mountain trails to reach the peak. Climbers should prepare for alpine conditions and bring appropriate cold-weather gear for safety.
A glacier covers the northwestern side of the peak and climbers must traverse across its surface. This glacier crossing adds a technical component to the overall climbing challenge.
