Rifugio Bietti, Mountain hut in Natural Park Grigna, Italy.
Rifugio Bietti is a mountain shelter made of stone located at about 1,700 meters (5,600 feet) and can hold up to 25 people for sleeping and 40 for eating. The building sits at a central point from which several hiking paths in the area begin.
The shelter was first built in 1886 as Capanna Releccio and later renamed after Luigi Bietti, a key figure in the Milan mountaineering organization. Its creation shows how mountain support developed in that era.
The refuge reflects mountain-building traditions through its stone construction and serves food that comes from local recipes and ingredients. Visitors notice how it blends into the landscape with the practices and tastes of the area.
Access comes via hiking trails from two different starting points, with each route taking several hours and requiring physical effort. It is wise to start early and bring proper hiking gear plus sturdy footwear.
The shelter serves as a meeting point for climbers tackling demanding routes in the nearby area, including a well-known steel cable route with steep sections. Many mountaineers use it as a stopping point to rest before harder climbs.
