Terme Arabe

Terme Arabe is a medieval bathing complex featuring three washing basins arranged within a rectangular space. Barrel vaults support the roof while circular openings provide natural light and ventilation throughout the interior.

The bath complex was built around the year 1000 during the Arab period in Sicily. Its construction demonstrates the technical knowledge Arab engineers possessed for creating functional bathing facilities.

The building reflects Arab and Norman influences in its design, showing the cultural blend that existed in medieval Sicily. Visitors can observe how different traditions came together in a single structure.

An Arabic inscription remains partially visible on the exterior stone wall, making this one of the few surviving Arab bath complexes in Italy. The text etched into the stone serves as a reminder of Arab rule and can be seen by visitors today.
