Santa Brigida, Naples, Baroque church in central Naples, Italy
Santa Brigida Church features a Latin cross layout with multiple chapels and stands near the entrance of Galleria Umberto I.
The church construction began in 1609 when merchant Giovanni Antonio Bianco dedicated a chapel to Santa Brigida and built a conservatory for widows.
The interior displays grand Baroque pictorial cycles, including Glory of Santa Brigida and The Last Judgment, created by master painter Luca Giordano.
Located at Via Santa Brigida 68, the church opens Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 19:00, and weekends from 8:30, with free admission.
Spanish authorities required the church to maintain a low dome of 9 metres to prevent interference with gunners' views from Castel Nuovo.
