Galleria Sabauda, Art museum in Turin, Italy.

The Galleria Sabauda is an art museum in Turin located in the New Wing of Palazzo Reale, housing over 700 artworks. The collection spans from the 13th century to the 20th century and includes paintings by European masters from various schools.

King Charles Albert of Savoy founded the gallery in 1832 by combining art collections from three different royal palaces. This union created an important art museum that reflects the collecting passion of the ruling family.

The gallery displays works by painters from different regions and periods, reflecting how European art evolved across centuries. You can see the tastes of the royal collectors who gathered these masterpieces over time.

The museum is open during daytime hours on most days and is easy to locate within the well-known Palazzo Reale. Plan enough time to explore the many rooms, as the collection is substantial and there is much to see.

The museum holds a rare painting by Jan van Eyck, one of the great masters of early Northern art. This work is particularly valuable because only a few paintings by this artist exist in Italian museums.
