Antiquarium Statale di Numana

The Antiquarium Statale di Numana is an archaeological museum displaying finds from ancient burial sites in the region. The collection features pottery, tools, inscriptions, and burial goods that belonged to the Picentes civilization.

The museum emerged after excavations started in the late 1960s and continued for many years in the area. It opened in 1974 to house the finds discovered from burial sites belonging to the Picentes.

The collection includes funerary items from a Picenian Queen's tomb dated to the sixth century BC, featuring metal chariot parts and Attic pottery.

The museum preserves two different types of ancient chariots that were carefully dismantled according to Picentes funeral rituals and later reconstructed. These vehicles reveal the technical skills and wealth of the ancient population.
