San Francesco, Gothic church in Alatri, Italy

The San Francesco church features a single portal and a large rose window with radial columns on its main stone facade.

Construction of San Francesco began in 1220 and concluded in 1330, replacing the nearby San Benedetto church as the Franciscan order headquarters.

The interior houses 14th and 15th-century frescoes, including a Madonna with Saints from the Master of Alvito school and a Saint John Baptist.

The church stands at the end of Via San Francesco, between Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore and Porta San Francesco in central Alatri.

A circular labyrinth fresco discovered in 1997 depicts Christ Pantocrator in its center, representing a rare example of this artistic composition.
