Annunziata Church

Annunziata Church is a Baroque structure with a Latin cross floor plan that centers on a single nave flanked by numerous side chapels. The interior is defined by a deep apse and transept that divide the space and create distinct liturgical zones.

The church first appears in written records during the 16th century, but underwent major development in the 17th century through extensive renovation work. These construction campaigns gave the building its present Baroque character and significantly enlarged its interior space.

The church served as a gathering place for the community and was shaped by wealthy families who sponsored individual chapels and their decoration. Visitors can still see how these spaces reflect both religious practice and the social connections that bound the city together.

The church is located at the intersection of Corso Campano and Via Licante, positioned in a central area of the city that is easily walkable. Ongoing restoration work is currently underway, so visitors should check ahead for any access limitations or schedule adjustments.

The bell tower displays a mechanical clock on its second level and showcases a distinctive color pattern created by gray piperno stone and orange brick. This visual contrast makes the tower recognizable from a distance and gives it a memorable appearance in the urban setting.
