Santa Cristina

Santa Cristina is a church in Cesena with a circular floor plan, a coffered dome, and a portico with Doric columns at its entrance. The building displays a balanced facade and a well-proportioned interior space defined by its distinctive domed structure.

The building underwent multiple redesigns across several centuries and received major restoration work ordered by Pope Pius VII in 1814. This renovation shaped the structure and appearance that visitors see today.

The interior echoes the Roman Pantheon, showing how early 19th century churches looked back to ancient Rome for inspiration. This approach was common in religious architecture of the time and shaped how many churches appeared during this period.

The church sits in Cesena's historic center within the Chiaramonti district and belongs to the Diocese of Cesena-Sarsina. Its central location makes it easy to reach while exploring the old town.
