Risorgimento Museum

The Risorgimento Museum occupies the Grande Miglio building within Brescia Castle and displays paintings, sculptures, and historical objects across eight separate sections. These galleries document the events and artifacts connected to Brescia's involvement in Italy's struggle for independence during the 1800s.

Founded in 1887, the museum first opened to visitors in 1893 at Palazzo Martinengo da Barco before moving to the castle in 1959. This relocation provided larger spaces to properly display the growing collection.

The collection illustrates how Brescia became central to Italy's path toward unification, particularly through its ten-day uprising against Austrian occupation. You can trace the stories of ordinary people and fighters who shaped this crucial moment in the nation's life.
