Etruscan Academy Museum of the City of Cortona, Art and archaeological museum in Cortona, Italy.

The Etruscan Academy Museum is an art and archaeological museum inside Palazzo Casali, spanning four floors filled with ancient artifacts, Egyptian collections, and regional archaeological finds. The building itself is a former noble residence whose rooms display the objects within a historical setting.

The museum was founded in 1727 by local nobles and grew from a collection of Etruscan artifacts, expanding steadily through donations made by Academy members. This tradition of shared collecting shaped its growth across the centuries.

The museum displays the Tabula Cortonensis, an Etruscan bronze text from the 2nd century BC, alongside works by Tuscan painters and Egyptian burial objects. These pieces show how different ancient cultures met and left their marks in this region.

Access goes through the rooms of Palazzo Casali, with staircases between floors guiding visitors through the collection. It is worth planning time before or after your visit to explore the town center, since the museum is located centrally.

The collection includes a rare Etruscan bronze lamp and a funeral boat from 2000 BC, showing how the Etruscans equipped their dead. Such objects help archaeologists understand the beliefs and skills of this early civilization.
