The Museo dell'Opera Pia Purgatorio ad Arco sits on Via dei Tribunali and houses a collection of liturgical objects spanning several centuries. The exhibits include religious vestments, chalices, manuscripts, and ceremonial furnishings displayed throughout the adjoining church complex.

The institution was founded in 1605 by Neapolitan aristocrats as a Counter-Reformation organization and served to aid impoverished residents of Naples. This establishment was part of a broader movement of religious institutions that expanded throughout the city during the 1600s.

The underground church preserves the memory of old prayer practices for the deceased, as shown by the black chains surrounding an unmarked tomb. Visitors today still encounter these spiritual symbols, which reflect the community's daily devotion.

Visiting is possible on weekdays and requires some time to explore the underground areas and exhibitions. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and prepare for deliberate walking, as the space is tight and historically structured.
